“We cannot become what we need to be, by remaining what we are” Max Depree
There are certain trains and personal values common to great people. No one can claim to have the monopoly of these trains, because they are values that can be learned and adapted by a willing mind. They are common denominator to many successful people.
Intellectualism. Learn to perfect your skills in your profession. Sharpen your mind and endeavor to be amongst the brightest minds in your business line. If you keep updating yourself on the most current techniques in your profession and improving your performance in line with future expectations, your output will be on the rise. A higher responsibility will be bestowed on you and promotion will beckon on you. Ultimately, you might own your own corporation and be in control of your financial destiny. Remember, a man is not made until he controls his own means of production. Consistently improved performance is the sure way to the top because success builds on success. In the western Nations, the best brains are the ones in position of authority. Holding such position is by merit and nothing else.
Dream and Direction. Dream big dream. Have a clear cut aim as you move on in life. A man who knows where he is headed will gather momentum faster than the one who is undefined. Do not let your present circumstances becloud you future expectations. Define your goals, write them down and make them as clear as possible, then pursue them most vigorously. Habakkuk 2 vs 2 write down your plan and intention, make it concise and plain, so that you can pursue it with passion” ( paraphrased).Barrack Obama had a dream before he became what he is today.
Optimism and carriage. Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Market yourself with respectable appearance. Carry yourself as someone who knows how to handle issues in your filed of operation. Be a solution provider and not a fault finder. Increase your knowledge and package yourself for success. Think and act as if you are there, until you actually get there. Think success, despite your contrary situations. Dress successfully, even though, it seems you is not yet successful. Don’t stop talking success, whether you succeed in a set of target or not. Do not quit because you did not get it right on time. Persistence is the mother of productivity. The true life story of Abraham Lincoln is a perfect
example.
Good company/ Association. According to Proverbs 27 vs 17 “Iron sharpened iron, so a man sharpened the countenance of his friend". If you want to advance in your career, begin to use materials produced by the best people who are at the fore front in your field. Look for their documented solution when necessary. The supposedly high cost of acquiring such relevant information cannot match the long term benefits that you will derive from correctly applying them. No one is an island: do not try to be one.
Focus. Learn to focus the power of your creative reasoning on an issue until you think it through. According to Mathew 6 vs 22” if therefore thin`e eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” If you can think it through, you will eventually breakthrough. Concentrate your energy in a singular direction per time .master one thing, before you go to another. If you have not grasped the basics, do not try to rush to the more complex stage.
Positive Thinking. positive Thinking is simply to think what you want until it become a part of you. Great people control their thoughts, but common people are control by their thoughts. Great people set out how to advance above the limiting circumstances around them, while, common people are controlled by dwelling too much on the limiting circumstances around them. Jesus Christ was the most optimistic person that ever lived. When Lazarus was dead, Jesus said he was sleeping. And the sleeping man eventually woke up. (John Chapter 11).
Moral Values. Be honest with yourself and others. Always be the first to give or offer something. Be selfless in serving others. According to Zig Ziglar: “if you can give enough people what they want, you will eventually get enough of what you want”. Be willing to offer help without necessarily thinking of what you will get in return.
